meHi, I'm Alexis. Welcome to my mind.
I love: conversation, coffee, music, movies, cats, good company, good food, writing, art, literature, learning, photography, and just generally livin' it up! Life, follow me and you'll see just how full of it I can be.
I hate: tequila and debt. I can deal or appreciate most everything else. There is beauty in everything, it just takes both an open eye and an open mind!

Attention! The Flood Is Coming!

The following is of great importance to me and to several of my friends and I would greatly appreciate it if you would take the time to read this post all the way through and even more so if you would access www.myspace.com/adzymackrap and here what exactly it is I am talking about.

Over the past three years I have become really close friends with a wonderful individual named Adam McConnell. Most of you know him as Adzy Mack. He is quite talented in many ways but in this entry I would like to expose his sheer talent in production.

He is only seventeen years old and he is creating true masterpieces with his computer all on his own in his home. He has been writing and rapping songs for quite sometime now but I have got to watch his progression and it has truly been a pleasure to be a witness to all of this. I am so appreciative of that and also very appreciative of the fact that he included me and so many other individuals in the process.

At this point in time he has completed a magnificent mixtape which includes a total of sixteen tracks. All tracks are downloadable for free here and you can stream ten tracks for free as well on his myspace.

It would be difficult to express to an absolute perfect measure of how awesome all of this is for me. I cannot even imagine how spectacular it must feel for Adzy. I truly believe that he has a gift and I believe everyone needs to give it a chance and if you dig please be sure and tell all your friends.

This mixtape entitled Before The Flood is only the beginning. He has already started on The Flood which will be his first full length album. If you think Before The Flood is incredible then you have no idea just what kind of absolute genius is ahead. I am not exaggerating when I say that The Flood is going to be a big change for music. I believe if given the proper expose Adzy Mack will turn music in a new direction. The Flood is going to be so amazing. I have only heard the beats and they tell stories so fluid and rich that it is seems that any words could lay upon them perfectly.

Adzy is really gifted and he completely deserves your attention.
Before The Flood
also features:
Josh Marion (J-Dookie), Jesse Light (Guttermouf), Zach Parsons (Caddy Zach),
Gracie Richmond, Tyler McConnell (T-Mac), and me (Alexis Snider).

I write this entry as a small token of gratitude but moreover I want to express my true desire for all of you to hear this. It is where music is going.

“No Ceilings”

Please do me this favor and check this out! You will like it. I would almost place a guarantee on it!

Ta Ta

I have not been active on my tumblr for quite some time now all of the post for nearly the past six months are mostly imported feeds from elsewhere. This is quite disconcerting to me especially because of how much I truly enjoyed tumblr in the beginning. I am putting an end to Like a Feather Falling. I will not be deleting my accounts but my post are going to be delete and I shall rename, revamp, and recharge and hopefully in the near future I will have far a better blog than I ever had before. Wish me luck.

Until then…

Keep The Faith! My Tribute To Michael Jackson.

I realize it has been two days and I should have addressed this sooner but this has been my first chance to sit down and contemplate and continue it through by writing it out. So here goes.

Michael Jackson was and is and shall remain one of the greatest artist of all time. He is such a deep influence on me. When other kids my age weren’t even listening to music let alone paying attention to the music they were being subjected to, I was different, I wasn’t subjected. I was introduced to a very eclectic mix of artist at a very young age. Growing up in a small Missourian town I didn’t know any other kids whom still played records and eight tracks. I could talk to kids about music an michael Jackson in particular was my favorite. but they didn’t understand or give a shit.

But to me, music and Michael Jackson was a means of escape. A means of wandering through my own imagination. A means of understanding myself in a world that did not.

Because of MJ, I am a better dancer and a better showman (woman). I learned the moonwalk before most people my age even knew what it was.

I can remember when the second trial was underway and I was shouting on a bus with one of my friends, “He might be weird, but he didn’t do it.” And to many people Michael Jackson will always be wacko jacko but not ever to me. Not ever to any of his family or friends. Not ever to his fans. And not ever to anyone that takes the time to understand and genuinely care for others.

Whether you want to admit it or not Michael Jackson made a tremendous impact on the world. He was and is the King of Pop.

And if his death means nothing to you then I feel so sorry for you have truly missed out. and if his. death is nothing but a joke to you then I can do nothing for you but pity you. For you are not strong enough to realize the good in everyone and in everything.

The lesson of a life lost isn’t that the person ha passed but what they have left behind. Michael Jackson leaves us with an absolutely legendary legacy. There was never and will never be someone like him. Perhaps he looked so different and seemed so unusual because he felt disconnected from this world, this reality.

I guess all I can say now is that I will always have a place in my heart for such a gentle and genuine individual. He understood more about the divine in everything and everyone and he used his talents to show that. He was a gift.

But a soul never dies and in his words, in his work, in his dance moves and songs, in his smile, in his true embrace for the world and all of mankind, Michael Jackson will be immortal!
